What effective teachers know and do

Who's in charge? The effective teacher has an organized plan for their teaching and their room shows it. They know that students who are actively engaged from bell-to-bell are less likely to become behavior issues because, frankly-they won't have time! They also know that teacher movement around the classroom is essential. Routines, procedures and rules must be set and established from day one. Consistency in rule enforcement is essential. Most importantly is teacher enthusiasm. If the teacher is clearly in control of their classroom, has well-written, student-centered lessons and is organized-their love of learning will shine through in their lesson delivery...and their students will surely benefit!
